Kathryn Brashears studied at the Art Institute of Atlanta, earning an Associate of Art in Visual Communications and has worked as a free-lance graphic designer producing computer artwork.
Working from her Nashville, Tennessee home studio, she began oil painting in the fall of 2010. The first book she checked from a library that helped in her decision to "travel this path" was Richard Schmid's "Alla Prima - Everything I Know About Painting."
She accredits the direction and help of other artists in classes and workshops that she has taken as her inspiration: Jody & Pat Thompson at SouthGate Studio, Rose Frantzen, Nancy Guzik, C.W. Mundy, Casey Baugh, Lori Putnam, Dawn Whitelaw, Michael Shane Neal, Rick Casali, Anne Blair Brown, Gayle Leveé, Igor Babilov, Paula Frizbe, Pam Padgett, Kevin Menck, and Richard Greathouse.
